John Rhind
John Massey Rhind was a Scottish sculptor who received many commissions in the United States in the 19th Century. He made the bronze bust of the Brooklyn physician Alexander Skene that sits in Grand Army Plaza.
In New York, the parks department's Web site credits Rhind with the Astor door of Trinity Church, some of the embellishing figures at Grant’s Tomb, the statue of Gen. Alexander Stewart Webb on the campus of City College, and a relief figure of a soldier at the 23rd Regiment Armory on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn.
Rhind was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on July 9, 1860. He died in New York City in 1936.
