About the rebuild
NewYorkCityStatues.com is being restored as a practical guide to public sculpture across New York City. The goal is simple: a clean archive you can browse by borough, neighborhood, park, and theme — without clutter.
What we mean by “statues”
This archive covers public-facing works in NYC: statues, monuments, memorials, plaques with sculptural elements, busts, fountains with figurative sculpture, and outdoor installations that function like landmarks.
NYC coverage
- Manhattan: Midtown, the Financial District, Harlem, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, and waterfront parks
- Brooklyn: Downtown Brooklyn, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Heights, and neighborhood memorials
- Queens: Long Island City, Astoria, Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, and civic plazas
- The Bronx: Grand Concourse, park monuments, and borough institutions
- Staten Island: civic memorials, waterfront works, and parks
Accuracy notes
If a detail is uncertain (artist attribution, installation date, relocation history), it will be flagged rather than guessed. When entries cite public sources, they’ll be clearly labeled.
